Health and nutrition text messages help child care providers

Text messages help child care providers reinforce health, nutrition and activity

Child care providers across Minnesota are talented and often very busy juggling tasks. To help, providers can sign up to receive health, nutrition and physical activity text messages twice a week.

The messages reinforce materials from Start Strong, Extension’s training for family child care providers. Start Strong helps providers save time and money when preparing healthy foods for children in their care. Now there is a new addition to the health and nutrition messages — developmental affirmations.

Developmental affirmations are positive, esteem-building messages for emotional health and growth. They are powerful, protective messages that give people permission to feel lovable and capable.

There are two sets of affirmations:

  • Growing Healthy Children, affirmations for children.
  • Healthy Self Talk, affirmations for child care providers.

Are you a child care provider interested in receiving these text messages? Sign up now.
