The Minnesota Beginning Farmer Institute can help.
The Minnesota Beginning Farmer Institute is a four-part course that uses an interactive approach to learning about farm management topics. Each workshop will have educational handouts and presentations.
Learning objectives
- Understand components and use of business plans and goals.
- Understand components and use of taxes and business entities, including expenses and deductions.
- Understand components and use of financial statements and record keeping, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flows.
- Understand grain marketing and land rent, including the cost of production.
Who is the audience for this program?
Farmers at the beginning of their farming careers—whether starting a new operation or transitioning into an existing operation. It will also be useful to those who'd like a farm business management refresher.
