Understanding your local economy
An Economic Futures Workshop helps your community understand the economic impact of five to eight different industries on local economies. The report asks a simple question: how would growing or shrinking one industry affect jobs and revenue at other businesses?
The answer to this question will help your community think about how your economy works and how you might invest in it.
How we work with your community
Preparing an Economic Futures Workshop analysis takes one to two months of preparation and planning. At a kick-off meeting, Extension staff and local leaders decide what the study will look at. After that, the Extension team takes a few weeks to build the model and run the analysis.
There is a $750 cost for this workshop. Funding for Futures Workshops may be available from the EDA Center at the University of Minnesota Crookston.
