Are you interested in becoming a 4-H pollinator habitat ambassador? Youth in grades 7 and up have the chance to serve as champions and advocates for pollinator habitats.
4-H pollinator habitat ambassadors research and participate in educational outreach activities on a pollinator topic of choice, including:
- Honeybees
- Native bees
- Monarchs
- Pollinator plants
- Climate change
How to become a 4-H pollinator habitat ambassador
You can apply to be a 4-H pollinator habitat ambassador if you are in grades 7-13. Applicants must be enrolled in Minnesota 4-H throughout their term.
Reach out to your local 4-H educator if you’re interested in becoming a 4-H pollinator habitat ambassador.
4-H pollinator habitat ambassadors will:
- Participate in a training that provides content knowledge, definition and expectations of serving as an ambassador, a chance to learn from experts, action planning, etc.
- Provide or participate in educational outreach (lead activities at day camps, after-school programs, etc.) and/or create pollinator habitat-based resources.
- Lead or participate in public engagement experiences/events focused on change through action (host planting events, monarch tagging, etc.).
- Communicate their efforts locally and state/nationwide when appropriate (via media, in-person, virtually, etc.).
- Document and showcase their learning.
- Complete a pre- and post- evaluation to measure program effectiveness.
