Youth Exploring Leadership and Learning Opportunities (YELLO) is a 4-H leadership conference for youth in grade 7+ that prepares youth to learn and lead in their communities. YELLO is planned and facilitated by the Minnesota 4-H State Ambassadors.
Our 2023 conference will include engaging and interactive activities. The conference will be held June 13-16 at Bemidji State University. Youth will:
- Build and learn skills to reach goals and plan for the future.
- Explore careers, college and other topics of interest through interactive workshops.
- Develop positive connections to other youth and adults through small and large groups, workshops and other interactive sessions.
- Take health breaks to recharge and process learning.

YELLO includes educational workshops, group networking experiences, inspiring messages from nationally-recognized speakers, field trips and opportunities to contribute to the local community through service projects.
This year's State Ambassadors have chosen to focus on building personal leadership skills that build confidence and develop strategies for overcoming barriers to achieving goals. Youth participants will also engage in team-building exercises and opportunities to get to know other youth from across the state.
The State Ambassadors have chosen this year's service project to focus on food and nutrition insecurity. Most service projects will address an aspect of food and/or nutrition insecurity and stay tuned for a statewide food drive!
Youth in grades 7-13 are welcome to attend. Registration will open in April and closes on Friday, May 20.
The cost to attend YELLO is $250.
Chaperones are needed to make this event happen! For information on how to apply, please check out the YELLO Volunteer Chaperone Role Description, or contact Sutton Stewart, Extension educator, email@example.com
The State 4-H Office is offering transportation from various stops around the state. YELLO participants can sign up for a bus ticket and identify preferred stops during registration. Bus tickets are $40 round trip.
Your local 4-H program may provide alternative transportation, please inquire with them directly. Participants can also provide their own transportation, if preferred.
