Let's Cook and Eat Healthy

Let’s Cook and Eat Healthy is a partner education workshop for direct support of professionals, foster parents, and others who work with low-income clients. Participants will gain knowledge and learn skills for healthy eating and active living. They can then pass on what they learned to their clients, participants, or foster children.

Objectives

Participants in this program will learn how to:

  • Communicate MyPlate messages for healthy eating and active living to their clients.
  • Teach menu planning, cooking skills, and safe food handling techniques to their clients.
  • Identify environmental factors that encourage healthy eating and active living and communicate messages about these factors to their clients.
  • Set goals to help their clients eat healthier foods and become more physically active.
  • Partner with community agencies and their local SNAP-Ed educator to meet goals set in the workshop.

Space and time requirements

This program consists of a 6-hour workshop held in a kitchen setting. The session can be adapted to meet the learning needs of participants, and within reason to fit the space and time needs of the partnering agency.
