Upcoming news, events and opportunities

We invite you to celebrate National 4-H week (October 7-12, 2024).

 Get enrolled, and encourage all members and volunteers to wear your Roseau County 4-H T-shirt and clothing during the week and promote 4-H to all your neighbors, classmates, friends and family. Let’s share the fun of 4-H with everyone!

Re-Enrollment/Enrollment for the NEW (2024-2025) 4-H year is underway! 

Please complete re-enrollment ASAP in 4HOnline. Login with your current 4-H family email and password to review, update and submit. For enrollment assistance, call the office (218-463-1052) or view the enrollment help guides

OCTOBER

Sunday, October 6 county meeting, training, and award schedule at Messiah Church, Roseau

  • 2 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. - Local Ambassador Kick Off-- All youth grade 6+ (current and new members) are invited to join this AWESOME group of young people to have fun, learn and grow in leadership and service. 

  • 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Annual Volunteer Training (AVT), “Amplifying Youth Voice”. Training for any and all youth grade 6+ and adults (volunteers, parents, club leaders) to learn together about supporting youth voices in the 4-H program. Join us for some fun learning, treats and a catered meal!

  • 5:30 p.m. Supper (catered meal) with Awards program to follow. Join us for the catered meal and awards program to reflect on and celebrate the accomplishments of young people and volunteers who continue to support youth learning and leadership from the 2023-2024 4-H year. Please, let us know you are coming for planning purposes.

Monday, October 28 (6 p.m.) — 4-H Executive Committee Meeting

 For executive committee members. Review 2023-2024 budget and create a proposal for 2024-2025 budget. Meeting will be held at the Roseau County Courthouse Breakroom in Roseau, supper provided.

IMPORTANT DEADLINE >Thursday, October 31 (4:30 p.m.)  CLUB CHARTER DEADLINE 

All clubs must turn in their completed club charters and financial records for review to the UMN Extension/4-H office by the close of business (4:30 p.m.). Audits will be conducted and completed by November 15.

NOVEMBER

Sunday, November 3 meetings – NOTE – NEW LOCATION TO BE DETERMINED

  • 2 p.m.-5 p.m. – Club Officer Training and Ambassadors Meeting We invite all 4-H club and county council officers to attend this important training session to introduce and provide helpful information and tools for your new leadership role as an officer. This includes officer positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and any other clubs may have. Location TBD.
  • 5:15 p.m. - 6 p.m.  Leaders Council Every club is required to be represented by at least one adult and one youth. Anyone is welcome to attend. Agenda to include: Approve budget and charter for the 2024-25 year. The Leaders Council will be held at the Roseau County Courthouse Boardroom in Roseau on the following dates:  February 2, 2025 May 4, 2025 and August 17, 2025. Location TBD.

Check out these upcoming Regional & State 4-H Events

These events can be found in the 4-H Clover Update newsletter which features news about Minnesota 4-H. Check your email inbox or mailbox for local 4-H news, events, and opportunities. All the upcoming MN 4-H EVENTS can be found by visiting the Minnesota 4-H events webpage. Many of the events are free to participate, virtual or at a minimal cost. Roseau County 4-H will reimburse 50% registration cost for members to attend any Minnesota 4-H Event. Keep staff informed of your plans for participation. ALSO, volunteers willing to transport or chaperone youth to attend can submit receipts for reimbursement of travel expenses as pre-approved by staff.

Registration open for first MNclusion 4-H True Leaders in Equity Summit!

MNclusion registration is now open and the deadline is Oct. 21. Please encourage youth to attend! Help us get the word out about the inaugural equity-focused leadership summit by Minnesota 4-H - MNclusion! We want to reach all 4-H youth ages 14-19 and adult leaders with a passion for equity and making change in their communities in order for all members to feel belonging. The summit will take place Nov. 8-10 at Camp Friendship in Annandale. Learn more and register.

4-H Science Sprouts: Exploring plants, water and color

This fall, 4-H presents "Science Sprouts: Exploring plants, water, and color," a captivating program for youth in grades 3-5 featuring three 30-minute virtual sessions on the 3rd Mondays of October, November, and December. Participants will engage in hands-on experiments to discover how water and color impact plant growth, with all supplies easily found at home. Sign up by Oct. 9 to receive a special kit and join this adventure in plant science! Learn more and register.
