Recovery After Disaster: The Family Financial Toolkit

All three versions of the toolkit are available electronically from this website. University of Minnesota Extension is not currently supplying hard copies of the toolkit. Local agencies may print copies and distribute them as needed. Contact that agency to get another copy.

They contain different resource lists. National resources are referred to in the non-state specific version. Templates are available for this version that allow agencies to customize and  add information for their state. For more information, see Customizing the toolkit for your state.

This toolkit is a copyright of the University of Minnesota. Significant effort went into the development of the resource and we are committed to keeping the toolkit updated. For that reason, we retain control over the content, as well as the look and feel of the toolkit. See the following questions for information on adding and/or customizing this resource for your state.

Resources that often need the most customization are in "Unit 9: Disaster Recovery Resources for Families." We have created  templates so that agencies can customize the resources. They will still fit as part of the larger toolkit. For more information, see Customizing the toolkit for your state.

Add the titles and corresponding page numbers of these additional resources. Then use the template for the Unit 9: Disaster Recovery Resources Table of Contents. This is found on Customizing the toolkit for your state. You may also want to continue the page numbering to the new resources. That will make sure they all fall within the same page number system.

If you are printing the toolkit to distribute to others, do the following to give credit to your agencies for distribution:

• Add a sticker to the front cover that states, “The toolkit has been distributed by X. Contact Y for more information.”
• Create your own cover with the name of the toolkit.
• Add University of Minnesota Extension and North Dakota State University Extension Service). They are developers of the toolkit.
• Add your agency name, and the contact information for who to call in your agency for more information.

Do not claim that your agency created the toolkit.

No one other than the University of Minnesota can put the PDFs directly on their website due to the copyright. We strongly encourage agencies to link to this toolkit webpage. Linking back to the toolkit home page and/or PDFs will ensure that your website will always be linked to the most current version of the toolkit. For more information, see the tips for using the templates on the Customizing the toolkit for your state webpage.

Feel free to use the descriptions on our website. If you choose to link to the PDFs directly, rather than the larger home page for the toolkit, be sure to credit the creation of the resource. Credit the University of Minnesota Extension and North Dakota State University Extension Service.
