Curriculum

Make the connection between what students eat in the cafeteria, what they learn in the classroom and what’s growing in the school garden and on the farm. These curricula will help make those connections at all ages and in many different subjects.


Farm to Childcare Curriculum Package logo

Farm to Childcare Curriculum Package (Pre-K/childcare) — Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy — Provides a roadmap for implementing farm to school practices at your childcare center. Includes practical, experience-tested strategies to try out new approaches, such as menu innovations, classroom activities, and family engagement ideas.

Farm to school youth leadership curriculum logo

Farm to School Youth Leadership Curriculum (Grades 9–12) — Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy — This curriculum is designed to empower youth, teach them about their local food system, and engage them in meaningful, hands-on learning activities that also strengthen their school’s farm to school practices and link them directly with farmers in their community.

FoodSpan (Grades 9–12) — Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future — This free, downloadable high school curriculum highlights critical issues in the food system and empowers students to be food citizens. It is aligned to national education standards in science, social studies, health, and family and consumer sciences.
