Minnesota Beginning Farmer Institute - Carlton

The Minnesota Beginning Farmer Institute is a three-part course that uses an interactive, fun approach to learning about farm management topics. Each workshop will have educational handouts and presentations.

Learning objectives

  • Understand business plans and goals, including AgPlan, and how they fit into the broader ag economy.
  • Understand components and use of taxes, business entities and record keeping, including expenses and deductions.
  • Understand components and use of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flows.
  • Understand grain marketing and land rent, including the cost of production.

This course will meet on three Thursdays: January 9th from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and January 16th and 23rd from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
