Dairy Risk Management Strategies Workshops

Dairy Risk Management Strategies workshops compare the new Farm Bill’s Dairy Margin Coverage with other risk management strategies.

The two-hour workshops will:

• Analyze how the new Dairy Margin Coverage compares with the old Margin Protection Program.
• Examine prices for different coverage levels and the pounds of coverage.
• Compare the new Risk Management Agency’s Dairy Revenue Protection program (similar to a crop insurance product that provides quarterly coverage) with Dairy Livestock Gross Margin.
• Demonstrate tools to help calculate your cost of production.

University of Minnesota Extension Ag Business Management educators will help attendees determine which dairy programs are best for their dairy and highlight the pros and cons of tools that can help set a floor for milk prices.

These events are free and are typically held every four years after a new Farm Bill is passed. They are presented by the Farm Service Agency and University of Minnesota Extension.
