Wright County Farmer to Farmer tour planned for October 26

Add to Calendar 2024-10-26 07:30:00 2024-10-26 12:45:00 Wright County Farmer to Farmer tour planned for October 26 The University of Minnesota Extension in Wright County is excited to announce the Farmer to Farmer tour designed for new and beginning farmers!  The Farmer to Farmer tour will feature three unique stops where we will hear directly from the farmers about how they established their small farm as a business. The bus will load at the Wright County Extension office from 7:30-8:00 a.m. and return to the Wright County Extension office at 12:45 p.m. where a grab-and-go lunch will be provided. Note: Riding the bus is a requirement to attend this tour as parking space is limited at some tour locations.The tour will feature the following stops: Deer Lake Orchard in Buffalo: See a behind-the-scenes tour of a family-run apple orchard. Their fall activities feature animals, a corn maze, wagon rides, pumpkins and much more!Living Song Farm in Howard Lake: Learn from a fourth-generation sustainable farmer with a farm product focus of organic garlic and pasture-based beef.The Little Boon Farm in Maple Lake: Hear from a CSA vegetable farmer on the do’s and don’ts of starting a small farm."There is a growing interest in the establishment of small farms,” said Karen Johnson, Extension livestock educator. “This tour is designed for participants to see and hear what it takes to run a small farm.” Thank you to support from NCR SARE and Wright County, this tour is free to attend but space is limited.  Register today to reserve your spot! Registration is required by October 21 to guarantee a lunch.
