Youngren Family
The Youngren family farm was established in 1941 when Theodore and Eunice Youngren purchased the property. In 1964, their son expanded the operation by acquiring an existing dairy farm. The cattle were relocated to the present site in 1974, consolidating the dairy, where it continues to operate today.
Now a fourth-generation farm, the operation is led by Scott and Kim Youngren, along with their son Dylan and his wife Kennedy. Dylan and Kennedy are raising their children, Adeline and Statler, as the fifth generation on the farm. When Dylan returned home after college, the family expanded the dairy from 60 to 150 cows.
Today, they milk 150 Holstein cows and raise an additional 150 replacement heifers and 40 steers, totaling more than 300 head of cattle. They grow all of the crops needed to feed their livestock. The farm produces approximately four million pounds, or about 460,000 gallons, of milk annually.
The Youngrens have embraced technology to enhance their operation. They use a milk taxi system to deliver the proper amount of milk to calves at a consistent temperature and participate in Dairy Herd Improvement Association testing to guide breeding and management decisions. The family also invests in their community by supporting local students through the annual Youngren Legacy Scholarship program and by remaining active supporters of local 4-H youth.
