Allysa Kelton has been a powerhouse since beginning her volunteer role with Minnesota 4-H three years ago.

“Allysa’s constant enthusiasm and focus on youth leadership has transformed the rabbit project and club leadership within Brown County 4-H,” says Janessa Palmer, Extension educator in Brown County.

Additionally, she is an advocate for youth voice and puts in extra effort to ensure that young people are represented in all county 4-H decisions.

“Allysa cultivates an engaging space within animal science committee meetings for youth to express their opinions and lead in the creation of solutions,” says Palmer.

Allysa’s passion for working with youth is apparent, and she has an incredible talent for guiding youth along their leadership journey. In addition to her work with 4-H, she is active in a number of local libraries, inspiring young people to empower themselves through building their literacy skills.

“Her dedication to long-term, inclusive and sustainable programming is an immeasurable asset to the communities in which she serves,” says Palmer.

Allysa’s exemplary service resulted in her winning the 2023 Minnesota 4-H Salute to Excellence Volunteer of the Year Award. This award is given to a person who has volunteered for 4-H for fewer than 10 years.
