4-H Ambassadors

Greetings, Blue Earth County 4-H Ambassadors,

It was absolutely wonderful to get to know you all better at last week's meeting. If you couldn’t make it, that is okay. I would still love to get to know you by scheduling a one-on-one call. My email is efanders@umn.edu, and I am free most evenings to chat. I want to learn more about your leadership style, personality, etc. It will be a very simple, easy conversation to get to know you.

At our ambassador meeting, we had pizza and games and talked about our leadership going forward as ambassadors.

Here are some highlights we talked about at our meeting:

We learned about what being an ambassador means. Watch this YouTube video, Learn and lead in 4-H, to see the incredible things ambassadors can do. In our work to create a mission statement for the ambassadors, we picked the following words that described us: leadership, communication, connections with all, dependability, reliability, responsibility, determination, hard-working, knowledgeable, encouraging, role models, taking initiative, educated, growing and well-rounded. One thing that stuck out to me was the phrase, “Building Leaders and Building Understanding.”

We talked about our personality traitsWhat are five of your personality traits? What are five personality traits that wouldn’t describe you? We used the list of 175 positive character traits to pick our personality traits.

We thought about skills we are looking to develop and any fun ideas anyone had for this coming year's plan of action:

  • Education and Skill Building: What do you want to learn, and what skills do you bring that we can develop? What are you good at?
  • Promotion and Communication: How do we get the word out about what 4-H offers?
  • Fun and Socialization: What events can we do to have a good time?
  • Service: What are local community needs that we can help with?

Feel free to add to our plan of action ideas document.

To learn more about what was discussed, review our ambassador meeting agenda - Feb. 15, 2023

Our goals for ambassadors include the following:

  • Meet more frequently.
  • Talk more openly.
  • Create a greater change in our community.

As ambassadors, we are:

  • Leaders.
  • Role models.
  • Encouragers.

An email will go out soon about the next meeting date. I encourage you to bring friends (in grades 7 and up) to our next meeting. It's okay to bring them, even if they are not in 4-H.

Thank you so much for reading!

Always feel free to contact me if you need anything.
