Some insects and their relatives, such as mosquitoes and ticks, purposefully seek out humans and animals to feed on their blood. 

Others, such as bees and wasps, only sting in self-defense. 

And sometimes, we may think we've been bitten or stung, but the itching or rash is really caused by something else.
