Lyon County Farm Family

Polejewski Family

Stanley and Mary Polejewski homesteaded the family farm and since that time the farm has been passed down through three generations. Currently, Bob and Arlene Polejewski own the farm place and most of the land. Bob’s mother, Marlene, still owns 80 acres. Through the years, the Polejewskis have raised crops including corn, soybeans, alfalfa, oats, flax and wheat. They also raised cattle, hogs, chickens and sheep.

Today, Polejewski Farms raises sheep and crops. The sheep herd is owned by Bob, Arlene and their daughter, Leah. Leah and her husband, TJ, help with livestock and the grain operation. Crops include corn, soybeans, wheat and alfalfa. The farm also hosts plots of corn, soybeans, and alfalfa that Bob’s off-farm employer, AgPlus, uses to educate and demonstrate to area farmers.

Bob and Arlene are co-owners and operators of the farm; Bob is the main operator. Marlene and her late husband, Edward, owned and farmed the home place for 32 years. Leah and TJ help with a variety of day-to-day work. Bob and Arlene’s son, Austin, is a co-operator for the livestock and grain operations.

Bob served as a Lyon County Fair board member for 15 years and is currently a Friend of the Lyon County Fair. Bob participated in 4-H and has served as a parent volunteer for the 4-H Ribbon Auction.
