Tax education for professionals
Tax education courses are offered under the guidance and expertise of University of Minnesota Extension Educator C. Robert (Rob) Holcomb, EA.
Both one- and two-day courses provide the necessary tools to stay updated on the latest tax legislation and information affecting the current year's tax returns and beyond.
Extension courses add value to your practice as the curriculum examines taxation topics affecting individual, small business, and farm returns and are fashioned for certified public accountants (CPAs), enrolled agents, attorneys, volunteer income tax assistance (VITA) volunteers, annual filing season program (AFSP) participants and others.
Appropriate continuing education credits will be awarded upon completion of the class.

Income Tax short course
For tax professionals working with individual and small business returns, including CPAs, enrolled agents, lawyers, VITA volunteers and AFSP participants.
The Income Tax short course is an annual two-day course that will give you the tools to maintain your business and stay on top of the latest tax legislation affecting tax returns for current and future years. The course fee includes the Minnesota Department of Revenue Individual Income Tax Manual, the annual National Income Tax Workbook, and online access to multiple years of tax workbooks in a searchable format.
Credits available: 2 hours ethics, 3 hours federal tax law updates, 11 hours federal tax law and related matters, 1 hour MN state tax law
Credits received: 16 IRS hours; 17 CPE hours; 14 CFP credits; 14 CLE hours in MN

Agricultural tax issues
This course is for income tax professionals who work with farmers but will also benefit agricultural professionals such as agricultural lenders and farm management instructors. You will earn "federal tax law updates" and "federal tax law and related matters" hours. This course has been approved for certified financial planner (CFP) and continuing legal education (CLE) hours. This course is not approved for insurance credits.
Credits received: 8 IRS hours; 6.5 CLE hours in Minnesota; 8 CFP credits

Timber management and taxation
The University of Minnesota Extension Timber Management and Taxation School provides tax professionals, foresters, logging contractors, landowners, agricultural lenders, and farm management instructors with up-to-date information on the federal tax treatment of income and expenses associated with timber sales.
The course offers three Federal Tax update hours of CPE credit for tax professionals. Professional foresters will also receive 4.5 CFE credits from SAF and MN FSP.
Credits: 3 IRS hours; 4.5 CFE credits
