Todd County Farm Family

Trevor and Alexandria Lisson family

In 1953, Trevor’s grandfather, Ken Becker, moved from Browerville in central Minnesota to Staples and started milking cows and raising his family. In 1997, Ken wanted to exit the dairy operation and Trevor’s father, Albert, wanted to try his hand at milking cows. Ken sold the farm to Albert.

When Trevor was in second grade, he received his first cow from his father. As he grew up Trevor kept expanding his small herd and his interest in farming continued to grow. After high school, Trevor attended M State in Wadena and wanted to become an electrician. During his college years, Trevor started working for a crop farmer and enjoyed it a great deal. In 2011, Trevor graduated from M State and still worked on a nearby farm.

Trevor soon took his original milking herd from his father’s farm, bought an additional 30 cows, and started renting his uncle’s barn to begin his own dairy operation. He eventually outgrew his uncle’s barn and purchased a farm in Browerville.

Currently, Trevor and Alexandria and their family milk 52 Holstein cows and farm 182 irrigated acres. They grow alfalfa, corn, silage and soybeans.

Alexandria works off the farm and the couple have four children, Thomas, Kolbe, Marie and Sophia. Trevor’s father, Albert, helps with the crops when he can.

The Lissons are involved in The Mary Mother of the Church Area Catholic Community and attend mass at Sacred Heart Church in Staples. Trevor has used data from the Minnesota Dairy Herd Improvement Association since he started milking.
