Findlay Farm
Nick Findlay’s great-grandpa Findlay purchased the family’s farm in 1955 for Nick’s grandpa Lawrence Findlay where he raised four children. In the early 1980s, Nick’s dad, Mark, moved onto the farm and raised his four children. Nick’s grandpa stayed actively involved in the farming operation until he reached age 85.
Nick and his wife, Shantelle, are currently living on the family farm, raising their four children. Since the beginning of the operation, cattle have been a huge part of the Findlay family's farm and have helped the farm survive through tough times.
Nick and Shantelle raise corn, soybeans, alfalfa and wheat. They also calve out around 300 cows. The family has always tried to be self-sufficient by owning its own equipment to chop silage, put up hay, and plant, harvest, and spray crops.
Nick is a district sales manager for Mustang Seeds and manages a warehouse on the east edge of Beardsley, assisted by Shantelle, who also operates Findlay Insurance Agency LLC out of the same location.
Nick and Shantelle farm with Nick’s parents, Mark and Carol. Nick and Shantelle’s four kids are Naomi, Nolan, Kinzie and Kamden. Mark is actively involved in farming while Carol helps with meals and running kids to and from activities. When the kids aren't in school or playing sports, they are busy helping on the farm. They really enjoy helping with the baby calves, working cows, and operating equipment.
Shantelle and Nick are volunteer coaches for the elementary boys and girls basketball programs.
Every summer, the Findlays, along with Mustang Seeds, host a free community burger feed to kick off the Beardsley Days Festival.
