Our youth spotlight this week features Axel G.! He is a sixth grade member of the Dalbo Patriots club. Axel has been in 4-H for three years and participates in the swine, poultry, and woodworking projects.
Axel's favorite 4-H event is poultry showmanship. He says, "I study a lot and it feels good when I succeed." His favorite 4-H memory is winning poultry showmanship his first year in 4-H!
Being in 4-H has made an impact on Axel. "It has given me a better work ethic and taught me how to be confident in myself because I know how hard I have worked," he says. Axel also says volunteers have made an impact on him by helping him get the information he needs to succeed in showmanship and breeding. "Especially Joan, she's been a good mentor and has taught me a lot which has helped me continue to be excited about poultry," he added.
So what advice would Axel give to someone considering signing up for 4-H? "I would tell them that it is a great experience. I learn a lot about the projects I'm in and I've learned that even though it can be hard work it is also very rewarding."
