4-H clover County 4-H'er Honored by Kiwanis Sunrisers of Winona

Hanna Ward was recognized as the Winona County 4-H Youth Representative for the month of December. She is the daughter of Minnie and Randy Ward and a senior at St. Charles High School. She plans to attend Winona State to be an Elementary Teacher and to stay involved in agriculture during her summers off.

Hanna has exhibited dairy cattle, goats, horses and gardening projects throughout her time as a Winona County 4-H’er. She shared that showing cattle is her favorite project area because she gets to make connections with her animals and loves the people around it. When asked about something she has learned through her participation in the 4-H program Hanna shared: “4-H has taught me how to work and communicate with others. As I began my 4-H career around 10 years ago, I was shy and reserved but as I continued to participate in events I have opened up.”

Hanna has given back to her community participating in local food drives, ditch clean-up and ringing bells for Salvation Army. She has exhibited 4-H projects at the Winona County Fair and MN State Fair and attended Gopher Dairy Camp. Hannah says she enjoys looking back at her previous 4-H years and not only seeing how much her animals have grown but also herself!

Winona Sunrisers Kiwanis Club honors one outstanding Winona County 4-H member during its breakfast meeting the fourth Wednesday of each month. The club meets on a weekly basis every Wednesday at 7 a.m. at the Winona Family Restaurant in Winona.
