Roles include:

  • Judges assistants: A judges assistant is a great job for anyone grade 3+! An assistant sits at their assigned project area table with judge and ensures you and the judge have all the supplies you need like ribbons, ribbon stickers, pens/pencils, etc. If you run out, replenish what's needed from the 4-H staff office located in the foodstand. Assistant also offers coffee, pop or water to the judge throughout their assigned time and may get beverages from the 4-H food stand. The assistant will ensure the exhibit card is marked by the judge, then places the appropriate ribbon sticker on the card and tapes it to the exhibit. Finally, the assistant moves the project from the judges table to a nearby shelf to be arranged for display after judging is complete.
  • Livestock Show Announcers: Responsible for welcoming audience to the livestock shows, introducing the judge, announcing classes and class placings along with recognizing sponsors and key volunteers throughout the show. This role is recommended for youth grade 8+ or an adult.
  • Livestock Show Data Entry: Responsible for 'clerking' throughout the show,  accurately recording ribbon placings and awards (Champion, Reserve Champion and Honorable Mentions) on the provided judges sheets, then scanning the results into FairEntry following the completion of the show. This role is recommended for youth grade 8+ or an adult.
  • Livestock Show Ribbons: Responsible for passing out ribbons to Cloverbuds as they exit the show arena at the conclusion of their class and adding the appropriate ribbon (blue, red or white) to the labeled exhibitors envelope provided for each class throughout the show. Also responsible for presenting champion plaque, reserve champion and honorable mention ribbons to exhibitors as they are awarded. This role is recommended for youth K - grade 13 or an adult. Note youth K-3 may need support of an adult.
  • AM & PM Bleacher Cleaners: Responsible for picking up trash on and below bleachers in show arena and sweeping off bleachers if needed. This role is recommended for anyone, especially as a club or group.
  • Fair Shirt Stand: Responsible for managing the "Apparel Shack" and selling county fair merchandise across from the Fair (board) office. Youth younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Check in and receive instructions from fairboard office.

A complete list of duties and expectations will be provided via email the week before the fair. Thank you in advance for your help!
