4-H clover All about 4-H at the fair in Yellow Medicine County

It’s almost fair time! Use the resources below, including the schedule of events, rules and other important information, to prepare and register your 4-H county fair projects.

The Yellow Medicine County 4-H Showcase will take place July 20-22, 2023, at the Yellow Medicine County fairgrounds in Canby, Minn. This is a great opportunity for 4-H members to show what they have learned in their projects this past year. All projects must have been created since last year’s showcase.

If you have questions about fair registration or anything related to 4-H at the fair, please contact Alicia Webb, Extension educator, at aawebb@umn.edu or 320-669-4471.

Registering for the fair

Premium book

Please review the Yellow Medicine County 4-H 2023 premium book and showcase guide before registering your exhibits to help you select which areas to sign up for. You are encouraged to read this information thoroughly, as there have been several changes.

If you would like to receive a printed copy, contact Alicia Webb at aawebb@umn.edu

Our 4-H  premium book also contains many FAQs, such as what a premium is, what parent/family expectations are during fair season, what the ribbon auction is and much more.

FairEntry registration

Please register for the fair online using FairEntry, our integrated system with 4-H Online.

Go to yellowmedicine.fairentry.com and use your 4-H Online login info.

Note: 4-H Online and FairEntry are different websites. Enrolling or ID'ing animals in 4-H Online does not mean you have registered for the fair.

Fair registration opens on May 1, and the registration deadline is June 15. Do not wait until the deadline to register. You may begin your registration, log out, and return to log into FairEntry to make edits until the registration deadline.

Resources to assist you in registering your exhibits

The deadline to register all project exhibits and show entries in FairEntry is Thursday, June 15.

If you do not have online access, you can request a paper form from the Extension office (the deadline is June 15 to return the form to the Extension office). However, please make every effort to use the FairEntry system. It will save valuable staff and volunteer time during the busy fair preparation time.

Volunteers needed

The Yellow Medicine County 4-H Showcase relies on volunteers. Several volunteer roles need to be filled; it is not necessary to be a 4-H screened volunteer to fill any of these roles. Most of these volunteer positions can also be filled by youth volunteers.

Training on roles and responsibilities will be provided to volunteers prior to the fair. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Alicia Webb
