Jennen Family
The Jennen family farm was purchased in 1952 by Phil Jennen’s grandfather, Robert. Robert and Phil’s father, Dan, raised sunflowers, barley, wheat, soybeans and corn together on the land. In 1997, Phil and his dad purchased the farm from Robert and continued to raise wheat, corn and soybeans. In 2012, Phil purchased the farm from his father. Currently, Phil, his dad and Phil’s son, Spencer, raise corn and soybeans in rotation on 1,200 acres. The family is proud that four generations of Jennens have farmed the land in Otter Tail County.
Phil runs the Jennen Farm and works at Beyer Towing. Phil's wife, Ally, is a social worker at Nexus Kindred Family Healing in Fergus Falls and helps around the farm. Their daughter Kylie works as a receptionist at Lakeland Mental Health Center in Fergus Falls. Son Spencer is employed at Beyer Towing while also working on the farm. Daughter Alaina is a student at Kennedy Secondary School in Fergus Falls. Dan still helps with planting and harvesting.
Phil helps coach the Fergus Falls High School trap team and is a board member of the Lakes Area Shooting Center. He serves on the West Otter Tail Crop Improvement board, where he has served as chair and vice-chair. Phil also spent time serving on the Otter Tail/Grant County Corn and Soybean Growers board.
