The Traverse County 4-H Engineering Design Challenge team will meet every Wednesday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. until Aug. 7 at the Traverse County Extension office. Note two exceptions: The team will meet on Tuesday, July 2, the week of the Fourth of July, and will not meet the last week of July.
The last meeting will be an end-of-year party at the Traverse County Fair on Aug. 28.
The team will also participate in the Minnesota 4-H Engineering Design Challenge Showcase, held in person on Monday, Aug. 12, at St. Cloud State University.
In the 4-H Engineering Design Challenge, youth develop critical thinking, creativity, innovation and problem-solving skills while having fun! Each year, teams of youth in grades 3 and up build a Rube Goldberg™ machine to solve a theme-based engineering challenge. This year's challenge is "Engineering for a Changing Climate: Prepare and Protect Against Extreme Weather Events."
Get ready to work with peers and a volunteer coach to create a machine that completes a two-step task that prepares and protects against an extreme weather event.
