Over the last 30+ years the Parents Forever program has helped thousands of families experiencing divorce, separation, or a change in custody improve their self-care, parent-child relationships, and coparenting relationships.
This course fulfills court-ordered parent education requirements in Minnesota
Parents Forever is for parents and other caregivers of children who are experiencing divorce, separation, or changes in custody. Individuals who attend a Parents Forever course will learn valuable skills and tools that will help support them throughout the family transition process. Even though most parents have had no difficulty getting the course accepted, we still recommend that you check that your judge and/or attorney will accept the approved online version of the course before registering.

How to register
After enrolling online, you gain immediate access to all course materials, including the parent handbook.
Parent handbook
Access to the parent handbook is included in your registration. It can also be used by any caregiver as a stand-alone workbook.
Parenting Plan
This resource helps parents put together a plan that meets the needs of their children as they parent apart. This is not a course requirement.
Parents Forever by state
The 8-hour online course meets and exceeds expectations for court-mandated parent education in Minnesota. Alternative versions are available below for residents in other states.
If you live in Minnesota, this Parents Forever course is approved by the Minnesota Supreme Court. It meets and exceeds expectations for court-mandated parent education in Minnesota.
For Minnesota residents only
Even though most parents have had no difficulty getting the course accepted, we still recommend that you check that your judge and/or attorney will accept the approved online version of the course before registering.
Completion time
The course will take a minimum of 8 hours to complete.

The cost for this course is $89. The fee includes a digital copy of the course workbook.

Certificate of completion
You will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course. This certificate is what you need to show your judge, court personnel, or attorney if the course was court-ordered.
As a general rule, the standards set by the Minnesota court system are the most extensive, both in terms of topics covered and hours of education offered. If you live outside of Minnesota, we offer an adapted 4-hour course. Note that court requirements vary from state to state.
Unless your judge/attorney has required a specific course, there is a good chance that the Parents Forever Online Course for Parents will meet and exceed the standards set by your state's court system. We recommend you discuss this course with your judge/attorney to get it approved before registering.

If you live in Indiana, this Parents Forever course is offered in partnership with Purdue University Extension and approved by your state

Do you qualify for free or reduced registration fees?
Minnesota residents may qualify to take Parents Forever for free.
If you cannot afford to pay the fee, you can ask the court for a fee waiver (IFP). You may qualify if:
- Your income is at or below 125% of the Federal poverty level.
- You receive public assistance.
- You can show that you do not have enough money to pay the filing fee.
If you qualify, submit a copy of your court approved fee waiver to [email protected]. Once approved, you will receive a coupon code via email to use during your registration process.
Minnesota and Wisconsin residents may qualify for reduced registration.
You qualify to take the course at a reduced fee in Minnesota or Wisconsin if one of the following applies to you.
- You have documentation showing that you are on one of the following assistance programs.
- General Assistance or Emergency General Assistance
- Medical Assistance or General Assistance Medical Care
- Food Stamps (SNAP or FoodShare)
- Supplemental Security Income
- Minnesota Family Investment Fund (MFIP)
- MFIP-Emergency Assistance
- MFIP-Diversionary Assistance
- General Assistance or Emergency General Assistance
- Medical Assistance or General Assistance Medical Care
- Food Stamps (SNAP)
- Supplemental Security Income
- Minnesota Supplemental Assistance (MSA) or MSA-Emergency Assistance
- Energy Assistance
- Child Care Assistance
- You receive legal services on behalf of a volunteer attorney or civil legal services program. You need to have a copy of a letter on letterhead, documenting you are receiving these services.
- Your annual family income before taxes is less than 125% of the poverty income guidelines for a family your size. You need to have a copy of your filed 1040 or 1040EZ tax form from last year for documentation.
If you qualify for a reduced fee
Submit a photocopy of one of the pieces of documentation described above via email to [email protected]. Once approved, you will receive a coupon code via email to use during your registration process.
