Risk management in youth programs

Keeping youth safe involves understanding what risk management means, assessing and preparing for it, then using that information to manage risk.

Proper risk management ensures that programs are designed, implemented and evaluated in a way that makes member safety a priority and is emphasized throughout the entire program.

Who should attend

Anyone who plays a role in ensuring young people are safe. This includes managers, directors and direct service-providers including volunteers.

You will

  • Learn how to use a youth development framework to provide safe and healthy environments where youth can learn new skills, interact with others and develop into contributing adults.
  • Discover a common set of standards that can inform decision-making, create safe learning environments and provide staff and volunteers with the tools needed to ensure members are kept safe.
  • Build on the personal responsibility of youth members, program staff and volunteers while also addressing risks beyond their control.

Available by contract

  • $750 for two-hour virtual session
