If you have a horse that is 38 inches high or less, you can show it in a state qualifying show and State Miniature Horse Show.
Classes offered by division:
- Cloverbuds can only do showmanship or costume, obstacle at hand and hunter.
- Pee Wee, junior and senior divisions can do showmanship, obstacle at hand, hunter, jumper, driving obstacle, driving, ground driving, liberty and costume.
Regional competition events
You can sign up and participate in one regional event of your choice unless otherwise noted.
Register for these events in 4-H Online. Registration and payment are due one week before the event.
- July 18-19, Isanti County Fairgrounds in Cambridge, 8 a.m.
- For Isanti County 4-H'ers only.
- July 19, Sherburne County Fairgrounds in Elk River, 4 p.m.
- For Sherburne County 4-H'ers only.
- July 21, Morrison County Fairgrounds in Little Falls, 8 a.m.
- July 26, Mower County Fairgrounds in Austin, 8:30 a.m.
- Aug. 3, Enchanted Hollow Stables in Buffalo, 8:30 a.m.

For participants
Youth in all grades can participate, but you’ll have to be enrolled in Minnesota 4-H. Join now!
Youth must be enrolled in the 4-H horse project. In addition, their horse must have 4-H horse ID forms completed and negative Coggins papers to participate.
Divisions include:
- Cloverbud, completed grades K-2 (Not eligible to advance to state)
- Pee Wee, completed grades 3-5 (Not eligible to advance to state)
- Junior, completed grades 6-8
- Senior, completed grades 9-13
All youth can participate in the 4-H Regional Miniature Horse Show.

To earn the opportunity to compete at the State Miniature Horse Show, you must qualify at the Regional Miniature Horse Show. Those who meet the qualifications are allowed to register and advance to the state competition.
Top-placing participants in grades 6 and older qualify for the State Miniature Horse Show.
Miniature horse is an activity, not a show class. Qualification in miniature horse does not qualify you to compete in show classes.
Required paperwork
Horses must be ID'ed in 4-H Online by May 15 or submit horse identification papers to your local Extension office by the due date.
