Cooking with young children is a great way to make memories and spend quality time with your grandchildren. In this session, you will learn how and your grandchild can join Rusty’s Cooking Club, a free, online cooking club for families of preschool-aged children.

Presenters 

  • Mary Schroeder is an Extension Educator with the University of Minnesota Extension and is also a registered dietitian. Mary collaborates with community partners to create healthy food environments for children and youth in early care and school settings. Mary is part of a team to develop materials for Rusty's Cooking Club, an online cooking club for preschoolers and their families to get them excited to try new foods. Mary is also part of two WIC workforce initiative grants to support the WIC workforce.

  • Kelly Kunkel is a Health and Nutrition Extension educator and professor with the University of Minnesota Extension. Her work has been dedicated to changing the food environment to improve food access and choice for low-income audiences through programming for food shelves, early care and education, and school settings.

  • Belkis Santiago-Martinez is an Extension Educator with the Department of Health and Wellbeing at University of Minnesota Extension. She was born in Barranquilla Colombia where she completed her degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at the Universidad del Atlantico.  Also, she holds a master’s degree in food science and technology from the University of Puerto Rico, Nayagiuez campus.  Belkis also has been certified in weight control management, physical activity, diabetes educator, and a Food Safety Manager.
