Eidem Family
The Eidem family farm, also named Shaokatan Lake Farm, has been in the family since 1893. Micah and Korisa Eidem are the fourth generation to operate the farm since 2004. In addition to farming, Micah has worked in the Precision Ag industry, and his wife is a first-grade elementary teacher.
Currently, the operation is a row crop farm producing corn and soybeans. They have used conservation tillage in the form of strip tillage to maintain soil health. They have implemented technology for controlled traffic, variable rate fertilizer application, and have started incorporating cover crops into the system.
The family members involved in the operation are Micah and Korisa, Jim and Sue, Cole, and Carter Eidem. Micah serves on the board of the Lincoln County Corn and Soybean Growers Association.
