Schuldt Family
The Schuldt family is the third generation raising their family on their 156-acre farm. The farm was started by Edwin and Minnie Schuldt. In 2017, Kevin and Kristi Schuldt purchased the farm and began their operation, producing cut flowers, berries, vegetables, shrubs and trees on approximately five acres. Kevin, Kristi and their children, Henry and Emma, all contribute to the operation. Kevin’s parents, Colleen and Jeff, also help throughout the growing season.
The Schuldt farm products cover all four seasons: flowers start in the spring, and evergreen and dried-flower products begin after the first frost. They aim to improve soil health using organic practices. Recently, they have incorporated chickens into their operation, moving them around the fields to clean, fertilize, and work up the flower beds as crops rotate. They sell their products at their farmstand along Highway 76 directly to customers, to their local florist, through flower subscriptions, and provide floral arrangements for events.
The Schuldts host two large public events on their farm, including a tulip festival on the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend and a dahlia festival in September. They also host groups for farm tours and floral arranging. Kevin and Kristi present to groups such as the Houston County Master Gardeners, and Kristi holds workshops for the Houston County 4-H Project Day.
