Commercial Animal Waste Technician (CAWT) workshops

Recertify as a Minnesota Department of Agriculture Commercial Animal Waste Technician (CAWT) by attending one of our training sessions.

Check your license card for the “Attend Workshop By” date. Our workshops will cover your recertification education for two years, as required by the MDA for re-licensure.

CAWT recertification training for MDA licensure

If you need to recertify, you can attend an in-person course, complete the online course, or retake the exam.

Requirements for recertification

CAWT license information: License requirements from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.

License lookup: Look up your CAWT license number or expiration date.

• NEW applicators: If you have not been previously certified and licensed, you must watch the videos and take a quiz from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. See the MDA initial certification instructions.
• Certified applicators: To be eligible to renew your license, you must meet recertification requirements. You can either rewatch the videos and retake a quiz every year or attend a recertification course every other year.
• NEW site managers: If you have not previously been certified and licensed, you must pass the certification exam (80% or better) to obtain an initial license. See the initial certification instructions.
• Certified site managers: To renew your license, you must meet recertification requirements by attending a course every other year or by retaking the exam.
