Cattle artificial insemination school

Cattle Artificial Insemination School is a two-and-a-half-day program held annually in Minnesota. The program combines instructor-led demonstrations using harvested reproductive tracts and hands-on practice inseminating live cows at a local dairy.

  • Day 1 includes classroom training on artificial insemination techniques, reproductive tract anatomy, heat detection, equipment, and semen handling.
  • On days 2 and 3, in the morning, you will practice hands-on artificial insemination techniques at a nearby dairy. Afternoon sessions are in the classroom.

Topics:

  • Semen handling and deposition
  • Bovine anatomy and estrus cycle
  • Estrus detection and synchronization
  • Nutrition
  • Genetic selection
  • Vaccination protocols for reproductive success
  • Using sensors and technology
  • Stressors impacting pregnancy rates

This course offers both beef and dairy tracks for production-specific presentations.

Cost

$550 per participant; due at registration.

Due to the hands-on nature of this course and the guaranteed time each participant will spend breeding cows, class sizes are limited.
