Runge Family
The Runge family farm is a fourth-generation operation that began in 1890 when William Runge established the farm. Originally a grain and cattle enterprise, the cattle were sold in 1978 and the focus shifted entirely to crop production. What began as 280 acres has grown significantly over the years as the family has continued to build on its legacy.
Today, Keith Runge and his two sons, Matthew and William, continue the family tradition. The operation is led by Keith and Nona Runge, along with Matthew and his wife Jessica, and William and his wife Bailey. Their daughter Julia Hoffman and her husband Caleb Hoffman also assist with fall harvest. Keith and Nona’s other children, Jena (Runge) Watson, Adam Runge and Jaime (Runge) Redmond, were also raised on the farm.
Keith, Matthew and William are members of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association and the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association. William serves as a Southbranch Township board member and works at Pioneer Bank as an agricultural leader. Matthew is employed as a St. James Light Department superintendent.
