Apple pruning workshops

University of Minnesota Extension offers informative, hands-on workshops on the fundamentals of pruning apple trees. We cover key pruning principles, techniques, and decision-making considerations, as well as best practices for tool care. If you’re new to pruning or looking for a refresher, these workshops offer an excellent opportunity to start, ask questions, and confirm what you know.

We welcome orchard workers, Master Gardeners, hobby growers, and backyard gardeners. Sessions will be offered at various locations throughout Minnesota and are taught by Extension educators.

Participants are welcome to bring their own tools (pruning shears, loppers, and hand saws) to the workshop. We recommend dressing for the weather and being prepared for an active learning session. All attendees will receive the UMN Extension guide to pruning apple trees.

Registration is required for attendance, with the option to pay the registration fee online or at the door. Please contact the educator for your chosen workshop if you would like to pay and register at the door, or if you have questions about the workshop or registration.
