Pope County Farm Family

Wildman Family

The Wildman farming operation began in the late 1920s when Harvey and Brian Wildman’s grandparents moved to Pope County and started dairy farming and raising hogs. In the early 1950s, their parents established their own farm, where they raised six children. In 1977, Harvey purchased a nearby farm and built his own dairy herd, while Brian continued dairying at the home farm.

Today, the family operation includes Harvey and Carla Wildman, Brian and Stacy Wildman, and Jake and Kristi Wildman. Jake is Harvey's and Carla’s son. The families share equipment and labor while raising corn, soybeans, wheat, canola, kidney beans, peas and snap beans. They use conservation tillage practices and plant cover crops whenever possible to promote soil health.

Jake, a University of Minnesota graduate, currently serves as president of the Minnesota Irrigators Association. Brian serves on the Pope County Farm Service Agency Board, the Pope County Coop Oil Board and as a Leven Township supervisor. Harvey has served as a church trustee and on both the Pope County Co-op Oil Board and the Midwest Co-op Board.
