Kandiyohi County Farm Family

Fixsen Farms

Fixsen Farms has been rooted in the soil of Kandiyohi County since 1908. For more than a century, this family farm has been passed down through multiple generations, with the fifth generation now living and working on the original homestead. Hubert and Linda Fixsen represent the fourth generation of Fixsen Farms.

Today, they remain actively involved as they transition leadership to their daughter, Sarah, and her husband, Mike Leshuk, who now represent the fifth generation. Their daughter, Megan, and her husband, Chris, have also returned to the area with their children, contributing to the farm whenever needed. The operation focuses on row crops, including corn and soybeans. The Fixsen family has embraced new technologies and practices to maintain soil health and long-term sustainability.

The Fixsen family has contributed to their community in many ways over the years. Hubert, a University of Minnesota alumnus, has long been an advocate for agriculture, serving as a founding board member of the Bushmills Ethanol plant, on the Soybean Growers Board, and the Agricultural Export Development Council. Sarah serves on the Kandiyohi County Corn and Soybean Growers Board and is often asked to speak at agricultural and community events. She is a member of the University of Minnesota Extension Women in Ag Network Advisory Committee and the Kandiyohi County Extension Committee.
