Quade Family
Both Ethan and Mikayla had dreams of taking over their respective family farms. Ethan grew up on a row crop farm near Jeffers, and Mikayla grew up on a dairy farm near Kenyon. After they met in college, they had to decide if they were willing to alter their dreams and make a life together. After their wedding in 2017, they both continued to farm separately until they started their family in 2019.
Ethan and Mikayla grew the operation to what it is today: about 100 cow-calf pairs, 200-300 head of cattle in a feedlot, and many other farm animals, including chickens, ducks, quail, goats, horses, donkeys, sheep, Berkshire pigs and honeybees. They produce about 1,400 acres of row crops with Ethan’s parents, Doug and Sue.
Ethan passed away in a farming accident in the summer of 2025 and left the operation in the hands of Mikayla and their children, Elsie, Dakota and Misty.
Ethan was an active member of the Jeffers Fire Department and First Responders. Mikayla was actively involved in 4-H growing up, and she serves the community by teaching Sunday school and volunteering through their church. Their daughter, Elsie, is in her first year as a cloverbud in 4-H.
