Clay County Farm Family

Hough Family

The Hough Family Farm was established in the 1880s as a dairy farm and transitioned to beef production in the 1960s. Through the years, the family has produced small grains, hay, soybeans and hogs.

Today, Michael and Ryan Hough operate a cow/calf operation and produce row crops including soybeans, corn, sunflowers, alfalfa, wheat, barley, oats and cover crops. They operate their farm with regenerative and no-till practices.

Both Michael and Ryan are FFA alumni. Ryan has also served on the Minnesota Barley Council and the National Barley Growers Association Board.
