Learn about the cultural, ecological, and historical significance of Manoomin (wild rice) and its importance to the Dakota, Lakota, and Anishinaabe (Ojibwe/Chippewa) peoples. This day-long workshop includes presentations, hands-on activities, and an opportunity to harvest wild rice from canoes and learn traditional methods of processing Manoomin.
Bring your own lunch. Refreshments and snacks will be provided throughout the day. There will be indoor and outdoor activities, including time on the water; please dress for the weather and wear clothing and footwear appropriate for getting wet.

Registration is required. Cancellation requests received more than two weeks before the start of class are refunded minus a $10 processing fee. No refunds will be given for cancellation requests received less than 2 weeks before the start of class.

Advanced training courses provide Master Naturalists and the public with opportunities to participate in a recreational activity and learn about a new natural resource topic. Topics build on the curriculum taught in our core biome courses, but participants do not need to be Master Naturalists to take any of the advanced training courses.
