4-H clover May 4-H State Ambassador update

Hello!

Jaimie P., Kanabec County
Minnesota 4-H State Ambassador

My name is Jaime P. and I am a first-year Minnesota 4-H State Ambassador from Kanabec County.

Becoming a 4-H State Ambassador had been one of my biggest goals in the 4-H program. Every person I’ve met, every event I’ve attended and every piece of this role has been something I have dreamed of doing.

The impact, the connections and the knowledge I've gained have all been things that I hope to be able to pass on to our 4-H'ers; and with this position, I have been able to do just that.

The applications for the 2025-2026 Minnesota 4-H State Ambassador team recently closed last month. I wish the best of luck to those who have applied, and I encourage all who are interested to apply next year.

National Service-Learning Conference

I recently had the opportunity to attend the National Service-Learning Conference. At this event, a few of our 4-H State Ambassadors and I facilitated something called a lightning talk, which is a 20-minute session teaching about our statewide service project on mental health and wellbeing.

We were also able to attend other lightning talks and workshops, and listened to speakers to learn of new ways to participate in service learning in hopes of bringing knowledge to our program. This event was a meaningful one as it helped us to see the impact we, and others, were making on the world around us.

Stay involved with our statewide service project. For the month of May, we are focusing on the topic of promoting educational and certification opportunities. Mental health awareness and education are crucial components of fostering a healthier, more informed society.

Youth Exploring Leadership and Learning Opportunities

Our statewide leadership conference, Youth Exploring Leadership and Learning Opportunities (YELLO), is coming up and registration is due Friday, May 9.

It's a great opportunity to meet 4-H'ers from across the state, engage in hands-on learning during our major sessions, listen to keynote speakers and much more. Be sure to register while you still can!

Don't miss your chance, visit our YELLO page to learn more and register.

Camp counseling

Summer is coming and so are 4-H camps!

4-H camp counseling was one of the leadership experiences that pushed me to become a 4-H State Ambassador. Camp counseling gave me a taste of what planning and facilitating really felt like and has helped me immensely while serving on the 4-H State Ambassador team in planning our leadership events, BLU and YELLO.

Register for a camp and make lasting memories this summer.
