4-H clover December 4-H State Ambassador update

Hello!

Greta G., Traverse County
Minnesota 4-H State Ambassador

My name is Greta, and I’ve been in 4-H for 13 years, starting as a Cloverbud and growing through the program each year.

Ignite by 4-H is what sparked my passion and encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone, try new things and become a State Ambassador. Ignite opened my eyes to how big 4-H really is and the ways youth can lead. 4-H has helped me grow not only as a leader, but as a person.

Over the years, 4-H has given me many opportunities to explore my interests, especially through general projects. Those projects have helped me develop new skills, meet new friends and gain confidence.

This past year, I took a creative writing project to my county fair. I earned a trip to the state fair, and it was a great experience. I got to meet other youth interested in creative writing and we learned from each other.

I’m honored to serve as a State Ambassador and give back to the program that has helped me grow as a leader.

BLU 2026: Bloom Into Leadership

The State Ambassadors are excited to announce that this year’s Building Leadership and Understanding (BLU) theme is Bloom Into Leadership. At BLU, youth in grades 6 and up build leadership skills, make new friends and create real change in their communities. This year, we'll be offering an overnight experience and a one-day option.

Overnight experience dates and locations

  • Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at Long Lake Conservation Center in Palisade
  • Feb. 7-8 at Camp Victory in Zumbro Falls
  • Feb. 7-8 at Concordia Language Village in Bemidji
  • Feb. 21-22 at Camp Friendship in Annandale

One-day experience date and location

  • Feb. 28 at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall

We can’t wait to see you there!

Seasonal service focus: winter weather preparedness

As temperatures drop, the State Ambassadors are encouraging clubs, counties and families to take part in our seasonal service topic: winter weather preparedness. We will be sharing tips and ideas on how you can stay safe and help others.

Let’s help keep Minnesotans safe and prepared this winter!

Reflecting while looking ahead

As we move toward the end of the year, it’s a great time to reflect on what you’ve learned, how you’ve grown and how you want to “bloom” in the months ahead.

Thank you for your commitment to learning, leading and serving your communities. I’m excited to be traveling again with Minnesota 4-H to the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta this year. I hope to share a bit about our adventures on social media, so be sure to check our social media channels if interested.

Sincerely,

Greta G., Traverse County
Minnesota 4-H State Ambassador
