Objectives

Participants in Go Wild with Fruits & Veggies! will:

  • Learn more about fruits and vegetables and increase their preference for eating them.
  • Expand the variety and colors of fruits and vegetables they eat.
  • Work with their families to prepare more fruits and vegetables at home.
  • Join in physical activity and learn about the importance of exercise in maintaining good health.

Space and time requirements

This program consists of seven, 45-60 minute lessons. Lessons mix classroom instruction and activities, including games, exercise, reading, and tasting demonstrations. Sessions can be adapted to meet the learning needs of participants, and within reason to fit the space and time needs of the partnering agency.

More information

Go Wild with Fruits & Veggies! uses animal characters and interactive activities to explain why fruits, vegetables, and physical activity are good for children’s growing bodies. The program provides opportunities to taste fruits and vegetables during each lesson, at school, and at home, and challenges students to add physical activity to their school day. Along the way, students also learn facts about wildlife, local foods, “going green,” and food safety.
