Christina is a 12th grade 4-H member who has been in the program for ten years. She is a member of the North Ridge Rangers Club where she has served as the secretary for her club. Christina is also an Isanti County 4-H Ambassador. Some other projects she participates in are food and nutrition, crafts and fine arts, self-determined, photography, woodworking/shop, needle arts, and goat.
We asked Christina what her favorite 4-H event is. She said, "As an ambassador, my favorite 4-H event is B-BOP. It is a time for Ambies to step up and lead classes along with bonding with other Ambies and the kids." Christina also enjoys the county fair. "Ambassadors still have roles to play within fair week but it’s more relaxed so you hangout with friends, show your animals, go on rides, and spend all week on the fairgrounds. County fair is definitely a highlight of my summer," she adds. Christina has also made many memories during her time in 4-H. Some of her favorites have been showing goats and emceeing and performing at Share the Fun in 2022.
When asked how 4-H has made an impact on her, Christina answered, "It has given me countless opportunities and experiences that I am very thankful for. Not only has it helped me grow socially, but also has given me good work ethic and leadership skills. Through 4-H I have formed many friendships and relationships that will last throughout the coming years." Volunteers have also helped Christina in 4-H career. She says, "Either within my club or within the ambassador groups, the volunteers have been incredible and I have close friendships with them. They got to know me personally, found my strengths and weaknesses and pushed me in the right direction to get me to do things they know I’m capable of. Some have been outside my comfort zone but with their help and encouragement, I did it and am grateful for that push they initially gave me."
Christina's advice to anyone considering joining 4-H? "4-H is one of the best opportunities to give children a wide variety of experiences. Through performing in Share the Fun to learning about livestock at B-BOP and showing both animal and static projects at the fair, 4-H is something you won’t want to miss out on. You’ll gain skills like responsibility, leadership, and work ethic, through experiences that are fun and memorable. Join 4-H and give it a try!"
