At the Great Lakes Indigenous Farming Conference (GLIFC), White Earth 4-H hosted the popular event "Revitalizing Our Recipes: Cooking with What We’ve Got Cook-Off (aka Native Chopped)" again this year.
Working in teams, teens partnered with younger youth to develop recipes using ingredients from a pantry of foods found in Native communities, including garden veggies, wild foods and government-issued commodities.
Once the cooking was done, the youth teams presented their dishes to the conference’s international audience. The presentation included sharing the challenges they were given and what they incorporated to make their meals healthy, tasty and creative.
