4-H clover From the Watonwan County 4-H Office

Welcome Michaela Kellner

Hello Everyone! I’m excited to be a part of your county as I start my role as the Watonwan 4-H Extension Educator. My name is Michaela Kellner and I just recently graduated from South Dakota State University with a double major in Animal Science and Agriculture Science, as well as minors in Agriculture Business, Agriculture Marketing, and Studio Arts. I grew up on a hobby farm south of Windom, Minnesota where I spent most of my time being active in 4-H and FFA. I was part of the Jackson County 4-H program for 13 years and was a highly active member in the Delafield Diggers 4-H club. When I was a 4-Her some of my favorite project areas were poultry, sheep, beef cattle, natural resources, and fine arts. I’m a big animal lover and currently have two collie dogs named Blu and Mojo. When I get spare time I like to travel, hike, and read. I can’t wait to meet each and every one of you, as well as get to know your community! Feel free to stop in and say hello or reach out to me through my email at kelln060@umn.edu. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with their family and friends.

Newsletter changes

Members will no longer receive our local events with the email sent by the regional office. This will be the only form of communication to our county members for local events. I will continue to email this newsletter to active members with links on the headers to the Extension website.

I will also utilize our members only site calendar with events.

If you have ANY events or meeting dates you would like in the monthly newsletter, please contact Michelle (mknudson@umn.edu) by the 27th of the month.

Meeting room reservations and security

The county has installed a security system throughout our building with motion detection and automatic door locks.

Clubs wanting to use the meeting room or lunch room must reserve the rooms with Michelle. Please let me know the time you plan to arrive and the time of departure as well as which doors you want opened when you arrive. Doors will automatically unlock and lock on the times you give me. If you are in your meeting and it’s running late, you’ll hear a beeping sound. This means your must leave immediately or the motion security will activate and the police will be notified by the security company
