4-H clover Volunteer Spotlight: Connie Kitner

4-H Volunteer Connie Kitner and child

Connie Kitner is a volunteer with the Long Lake Leaders Club and the Shooting Sports & Wildlife project. She has been volunteering for two years. Connie is a diagnostic imaging assistant. We asked Connie about her hobbies. She said, "I am a mom of three girls, so I don't get a lot of time to myself for hobbies." When she does get the chance she enjoys fishing, hunting and going camping with her family and friends. Her favorite project is Shooting Sports. She says, "I think it’s awesome that young kids have an opportunity to learn how to safely handle and compete with firearms, learn principles of hunting and archery, and acquire skills for life. And the State Shoot competition is a lot of fun!"

Connie became a 4-H volunteer because she loves what 4-H has to offer for youth in the community. "I wanted to help take a load off of the leaders and coaches any way I can," she adds. Volunteering has impacted her because she knows that taking a small amount of time out of her day could make a difference in someone else's life. Her advice to those considering volunteering is to do it for the kids in the community! There is always a need for more volunteers.
