Video: Annie Klodd helps grow Minnesota's wine grape industry
Annie Klodd provides education and applied research to grape growers on the most effective ways to successfully grow high-quality Minnesota wine grapes in our climate. The University of Minnesota Extension educator in fruit and vegetable production is funded by the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Tech Transfer program (AGREETT).
"It's really good for us to have a new perspective on things because our industry's not very old," says Lisa Smiley, executive director of the Southern Minnesota Grape Grower Alliance. " A lot of growers are just on their own, trying to learn the best way they can, through other growers. Annie's been kind of the missing link that the industry needs. And Annie's very easy to talk to, very relatable, extremely good at assimilating research, and then passing it on to the growers in a way that they are able to understand."
