Involvement with 4-H (as youth or adult):
As a youth, Tom was involved at the Cottonwood County Fair with dairy, swine and garden box exhibits. He was also part of Share the Fun, club meetings and tours. As an adult, Tom served as the county shooting sports leader for 10 years which included the State Shooting Sports event. He was also a club leader for Loyal Lakers.
Favorite 4-H memory:
Tom’s favorite memory is preparing and exhibiting projects at the county fair including a Brown Swiss heifer named Melanie.
Advice to current 4-H youth:
“I would encourage 4-H youth to become involved and participate in the numerous projects 4-H has to offer. If you practice the 4-H pledge daily, our world will be a better place.”
Why do you think people should be involved in 4-H?
“Involvement in 4-H will provide great experiences that will allow you to develop a lifetime of knowledge. 4-H provides tremendous opportunities!”
Current occupation:
Tom is a retired Agricultural Education Instructor and is currently a Cottonwood County Commissioner.
Family:
Spouse – Kelly, Children – Nathan, Ben, Jessica – all three very active 4-H members.
